Welcome to Mark's World

Rowland's Paradox
A good woman is known by what she does;
A good man by what he doesn't.

An Observation of the Times
"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy,
the best golfer is a black guy, France is accusing the US of arrogance and
Germany doesn't want to go to war."

Work (or how he makes his $$$)

Work banishes three great evils: boredom, vice and poverty. - Voltaire

Play (or how he spends his $$$)

There's nothing like good food, good wine, and a good mate.

Besides the obligatory domestic responsibilities of a family man, Mark is entertained by Canoeing, Music, Epicurean Delights (like drinking fermentables and eating chocolate), Homebrewing, Wargaming, Gardening, and other things.

Come play with me.

Faith (or where he stores up his treasures)

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
-- James 1:1-2 (NIV)

My christian faith is primarily influenced by a loving family and Baptist evangelical traditions.  In addition, training as an engineer has led me to a faith, not based on blind obedience, but based on the observation and recognition of the hand of God in the creation and modern intervention.

Come pray with me.

Sources of other Information

Reading is Knowledge. Knowledge is Power. Power Corrupts.

There is a lot of information that can be retrieved from the World Wide Web (WWW). Some can be gotten from Web Pages of institutions, organizations, or commercial ventures. In addition, search engines allow you to look for information based on key words or phrases.

Happy Hunting.

Nothing in the world can take the place of PERSISTENCE.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent.
The slogan "Press On," has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
-- Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the United States
